Veronica Augustsson named Alumna of the Year
Veronica Augustsson, Cinnober’s CEO, has been named Alumna of the Year 2016 by KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
Since its founding in 1827, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key center of intellectual talent and innovation. KTH is Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and is home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world who are dedicated to advancing knowledge. KTH currently has some 20,000 active students.
The reasons cited for selecting Augustsson:
At the age of 33, 10 years after graduating from KTH, Veronica Augustsson was appointed CEO. Since 2012, Veronica Augustsson has been the leader of Cinnober Financial Technology, an independent global provider of advanced financial technology based in Sweden. Also in 2012, she was listed as one of the most promising talents under 40 by Financial News and two years later as one of the 100 most influential women in Europe.”
Each year, KTH honors a former student who has stood out as a good ambassador for the school. Alumni, students and staff submit their nominations to the KTH Alumni Advisory Board, which then issues a recommendation. Ultimately, the President of KTH determines who will be the Alumnus/Alumna of the Year. Previous Alumni of the Year include Christer Fugelsang, Sweden’s first astronaut, and Magnus Egerstedt, Professor in Robotics and Automatic Control.
“I am naturally very honored to have been selected. I am very grateful for what I learned at KTH and look back on my student years as fun, challenging and highly stimulating. My education has provided me with a very good platform to work from. I’m proud to be able to inspire other students and young professionals. The world needs more people who set high goals, are not afraid to succeed and who are ready to walk that extra mile,” says Veronica Augustsson.
Augustsson holds a Master’s Degree in computer engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. She began her career at Cinnober as a programmer and, during her 15 years at the company, Augustsson has held a number of key positions including Head of Sales.
The price ceremony and lecture will be held at KTH Campus Valhallavägen on October 13.
