Each year, students at Swedish universities and colleges vote for their dream employer in the country’s largest survey among students FöretagsBarometern (the Company Barometer). Technology supplier Cinnober is among this year’s biggest climbers. The company has advanced fully 24 places to 85th position in the segment ideal employers in data/IT.

“The survey is a good indication of our current status,” says Cinnober’s CEO Veronica Augustsson. “Besides being part of an exciting sector that appeals to many, our major international successes have also helped increase awareness. Since we are a knowledge-based company, our employees are our foremost resource. This is reflected in our strong corporate culture, which attracts many talented young people to grow with us.”

FöretagsBarometern is a comprehensive survey covering careers, working life and future prospects. A total of 15,336 students from 30 universities and colleges around Sweden participated in this year’s survey. Employer-branding company Universum is behind the study, this year carrying out the FöretagsBarometern survey for the 26th time.

“Cinnober accounts for an amazing increase among systems scientists in the latest survey, achieving its strongest result to date,” says Martin Strömqvist, Deputy CEO at Universum. “This year's results mean that Cinnober is the company that has climbed second-most in the rankings for data/IT companies. Furthermore, this is also in a situation where competition for engineering graduates is at its fiercest.”

Cinnober’s efforts to attract young engineering talent include last year’s introduction of the cinCube trainee program. The program takes a year and is conducted at the company’s offices in Umeå. A total of five people have been admitted to the program.

Cinnober has also been a driving force behind the discussions regarding a future financial IT cluster in the Umeå region. Initial cooperation with the business community, local government and university has to date resulted in a unique new specialization in financial IT at Umeå University.

“It is really positive that awareness of Cinnober has proven to be so strong, particularly among engineers, who are of course our principal target group,” comments Christina Jacobsson, the company’s HR Manager. “It feels like we are on the right track and are prioritizing aspects that are important to young people today. These include a thoroughly considered foundation of values and the opportunities for future development that the company can offer.”

Cinnober is a world-leading supplier of financial technology to marketplaces and clearinghouses. The client list consists of major global players with extreme demands on reliability and performance, including names such as BM&FBOVESPA, Deutsche Börse, Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange, the London Metal Exchange, LME Clear, MarkitSERV and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
