Additional technology talent for Cinnober’s coveted trainee program cinCube

By Cinnober - 2014.02.13

Cinnober’s trainee program cinCube, introduced early last fall, has had a very promising start and has attracted a great deal of interest among the young and technically talented. The program’s second round will start up in the next few days with two more trainees joining the scene, with the opportunity to develop within financial IT.

The new trainees — Rasmus Leijon, 25 years old, and Johan Sundberg, 27 years old — are both from Umeå. Last fall they completed a row of complicated admissions and problem solving tests, to finally qualify for a place on the coveted program.

“The combination of technological and financial training is hard to beat,” says Rasmus Leijon, who completed a Master of Science in Mathematics. “Other industry training courses focus on either one or the other, so this makes Cinnober’s trainee program unique.”

Johan Sundberg agrees. He has studied engineering physics and looks forward to learning about the industry from scratch.

“I am passionate about programming and over the past few years I’ve also become interested in trading and finance, so this feels so right. Since I’ve live abroad periodically I’m also attracted to working with an international company that has clients all over the world.”

The trainee program is one year long and takes place at Cinnober’s office in Umeå, a university town in northern Sweden.

“The trainee program has really achieved the fantastic start we hoped for,” comments Veronica Augustsson, CEO of Cinnober. “We spent a lot of time and care on developing a high-class training program and the quality of the applicants is impressive. With a continued flow of promising talent we are assuring the continued growth of our company. At the same time, increasing the concentration of technological competencies in Umeå contributes to getting interest up for the IT cluster we see as the most likely future development.

Maryam Pourangnia is part of the trainee group that was admitted to the pioneer course early in the fall: “When I look back, it feels like we’ve covered so much in the past six months. It has been hectic but we have learnt so much in return. The mix of theory and practical training has made the course exactly as innovative and concrete as I had hoped it to be. And we have had a lot of support from our supervisors and other colleagues. The new trainees really have a good time to look forward to!”

Cinnober is a world-leading supplier of financial technology to marketplaces and clearinghouses. The client list consists of major global players with extreme demands on reliability and performance, including names such as BM&FBOVESPA, Deutsche Börse, Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange, the London Metal Exchange, LME Clear, MarkitSERV and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
