Cinnober Signs Agreement with Alpha Trading Systems
Cinnober has entered into an agreement with Alpha Trading Systems for the delivery of a trading platform. Alpha was established in May 2007, by nine of Canada’s leading financial institutions with the aim of increasing the country’s equity trading efficiency and making the Canadian marketplace more globally competitive.
The Alpha Trading System solution is based on Cinnober’s fully scalable, high-performance, low-latency TRADExpress platform, which powers several leading marketplaces.
Alpha’s decision to partner with Cinnober has come after the completion of a thorough due diligence process during which many different trading platforms were considered. The selection and benchmarking procedures for this assignment have been rigorous. Together with the announcement of Cinnober’s involvement in the Project Turquoise this further confirms marketplace trust in the excellent quality of the TRADExpress platform.
Turquoise Selects Cinnober
Cinnober has been selected to supply the trading platform technology for Project Turquoise, the Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) that is being set up by nine leading European investment banks.
Project Turquoise will offer an innovative hybrid trading facility bringing together a traditional transparent order book – which will have priority – and a hidden order book or “dark pool” within the same matching engine and order book.
The decision to select Cinnober came after an in-depth review of a wide range of possible suppliers. Cinnober’s TRADExpress technology best matched the requirements of Project Turquoise for a state-of-the-art, functionally rich solution with exceptional reliability and low latency.
BOAT Live!

The objective of Markit BOAT is the creation of a central platform for the collection, collation, validation, storage, and distribution of pre- and post-trade information, as required by investment banks operating off-exchange.
CBOE’s CFLEX Launched!
On November 20 CBOE went live with their CFLEX system which is deployed by Cinnober. CFLEX is an Internet based trading platform for exchange-traded FLEX options. It is based on Cinnober’s TRADExpress platform and contains functionality for negotiating and trading flexible contracts.
